about

July 7, 2017: I have not produced any new track for several months now with my energies, such as they are, directed instead to #Resist efforts like writing myriad letters to Congress and attending protest rallies. Then a few days ago, unbidden and out of the blue, I thought on these two tunes from my youth and how they might mash up well, both in melody and the loneliness themes of both.

I had to search online a bit for a key match of "The Lonely Bull" to "White Bird," but once I found that, the mashing up choices I made here happened pretty quickly. If it hadn't come together as easily, I likely would have scrapped the idea. Yet usually unbidden inspiration is not to be ignored and for good reason. Hope you enjoy and please seek out the original songs to hear the source material for yourself.

Composer Credits: David & Linda LaFlamme's "White Bird" as recorded by It's a Beautiful Day. Although Herb Alpert recorded the famous version of Sol Lake's "The Lonely Bull" (El Toro Solitario), here it is as performed by Doug Beaumier on lap steel guitar.
